Don't even know where to start. We'll let's start with the cleanliness of the establishment apon entering! Then you have the well mannered employees that work in there. Oh can't forget about the Boss Lady and beautiful kids who are always there also. There's so much to choose from, for which everything is good in my ... opinion. Everything is prepared with LOVE. One of my favorite dishes is the Oaxtail with Rice & Peas. Not to brag but I think I've probably ordered some of everything off of their menu lol. This place is literally a one stop shop. I come here for all my jerk sauces and now they also have a kitchen with amazing food. My favorite is rice and peas plantain jerk, chicken stew, chicken, curry, shrimp, and chicken. FINALLY!!! I've lived in the valley for 8 years now and was very necessary! The market is nice, the employees are friendly and the food is phenomenal! They actually serve breakfast (and at breakfast time!) I'm so sick of waiting until 11am on the weekends to get Ackee and Saltfish. The employees at Di Mart had ... breakfast ready at 9 and I didn't have to specify that I wanted ground provisions before ordering which is something I never had to do in Miami. I was able to get groceries and spices while I waited and stocked up on all of my favorites. Today I went to visit a Jamaican focused market in Canoga Park because I like most Angelenos love food and Jamaican food has a special place in my heart. I’ve had food from venues, restaurants, and private chefs so I have some context as to what it should taste like. I ordered the Large Jerk chicken dinner plate with ... my choice of rice and peas, steamed cabbage and plantain. The jerk chicken was cut into pieces which I appreciated, it was so flavorful and had the right amount of spice. I can tell it wasn’t made in a pan in an oven because I could taste char from the grill like it’s supposed to be! The rice and peas were fluffy yet dense with richness, the steamed cabbage was enriched with mixed veggies so it was a very healthy and delicious addition. But between my baby and I the plantain stole both our hearts. It’s such a pleasure to have dined and the vibes of the staff were energetic and helpful with ordering because it was my first time visiting.
