DI MART was born out of a feeling every immigrant family knows — walking into a grocery store and not finding a single thing from home. Los Angeles is one of the most diverse cities in the world, yet the Caribbean, African, Armenian, and Hispanic communities of the San Fernando Valley were driving across the city just to find the ingredients they grew up with. We decided that wasn't good enough.

So we opened at 21355 Sherman Way in Winnetka and built the store our community deserved — stocked with the real thing, open every day, and built around the people who needed it most.

From Grace products and Scotch bonnet peppers to fufu flour, fresh cassava, Armenian spices, and Hispanic pantry staples — DI MART carries the ingredients that most LA supermarkets simply don't stock. Our fresh meat counter is butchered in-house. Our seafood is sourced daily. Our produce section carries the plantains, yams, and tropical ingredients that Caribbean and African cooking depends on.

Alongside the grocery, DI MART runs a full Jamaican kitchen serving hot plates made fresh every day. Jerk chicken. Curry goat. Oxtail and beans. Brown stew fish. Fried plantains with rice and peas. Every dish is made the way Caribbean home cooking is supposed to be made — with patience, the right seasonings, and genuine respect for the tradition behind it. Whether you're picking up groceries or staying for a plate, the kitchen is open daily and the food is always worth it.

Since opening, DI MART has become a gathering place for the multicultural communities of Winnetka and the broader San Fernando Valley. Jamaicans who found a taste of Kingston.
